In Kerala, majority of the development projects and programmes are implemented through the rural and urban local bodies, which if implemented properly can reduce the impact of climate change. Such projects/programmes include, construction of roads, groundwater exploration, promotion of agriculture, waste management, distribution of fertilizers, drinking water distribution, renewable energy through solar system, rejuvenation of ponds and lakes, schemes through MNREGS, etc. Aim of the project is to evaluate the ongoing projects and programmes implemented in the rural and urban local bodies to assess their climate friendliness and to find out their impact on climate change adaptation and mitigation.
